The Idea Behind the Game
Evil Nun is made for players who enjoy the tension of sneaking through the dark. You have no weapon strong enough to fight back. All you have is careful observation, memory, and the ability to stay quiet at the right moment.
Instead of constant jump scares, the game builds fear through waiting: footsteps in the hallway, a door creaking, and not knowing where the nun is. Every attempt teaches you more about the school, and the way out slowly becomes clearer.
Story
You are a student who receives a postcard inviting you to a free summer camp run by Eagle's Junior School in 1962–1963. The invitation sounds kind, but once you arrive, you realize the school is not what it seems. A nun patrols the halls, and she has no intention of letting you leave.
You must find a way out before you are caught, starting from the smallest things, like a cable that restores the power, all the way to opening the final exit.
Every Day Is a New Chance
The story unfolds over up to five days. If the nun catches you, a new day begins and you carry what you learned into it. If the fifth day ends and you have not escaped, the game is over.
Gameplay
Evil Nun is a first-person survival horror game that mixes stealth, puzzles, and exploration. You move through the school's rooms, collect what you need, and try to stay out of the nun's sight.
The Nun Listens and Hunts
The nun reacts to sound. Running, knocking things over, or opening doors loudly can bring her to you. Once she spots you, you must run or find a place to hide.
Puzzles Open the Way
The school is full of puzzles: finding a cable to restore power, switching on lights in the museum, and unlocking blocked paths. Every solution brings you closer to the exit.
Helpful Items
You can use a doll, speed boots, a fire extinguisher, a gum gun, dynamite, or a trampoline to distract, slow down, or stop the nun. Each item works differently and has to be used at the right time.
Quick Hiding Spots
When the nun gets close, you can slip into hiding spots in the room and wait for her to pass. Hiding well takes a calm head and good timing.
Two Ways to Escape
You can escape through the main door or in the car in the parking lot. Each route needs different preparation and has its own achievements, such as escaping without being seen or without hiding at all.
Multiple Difficulty Levels
Choose from Ghost, Easy, Normal, Hard, or Extreme. Difficulty changes how fast the nun walks, how well she hears, and how soon she starts searching for you.
Guided Tutorial
On your first run, the game walks you through looking around, moving, crouching, and interacting with doors. You can turn the tutorial off before you start.
Style
Dark, Shadowy 3D Graphics
Evil Nun is a first-person 3D game. The school feels old, damp, and cold, with hallways, classrooms, and rooms lit by dim light. Darkness is part of the gameplay: you see just enough to keep moving, and your imagination fills in the rest.
Muted, Gloomy Colors
The palette leans toward black, gray, and faded yellow-brown, like old photographs from the 1960s. Bright colors appear only at points that matter, such as a fluorescent light or car headlights.
Hand-Drawn Interface
Menus and information screens feel like an old notebook: the opening postcard, handwritten text, and decorative borders. The thin, slanted typeface looks like writing from another era. Buttons are kept compact so they never block the view of the game.
Sound That Builds Tension
Sound plays a major role: footsteps, doors, and deep background music. Sometimes there is no sound at all, and that silence is the most frightening part.
Controls
The game is played with keyboard and mouse.
Movement and Looking
Move the mouse to look around. Use W, A, S, D to walk. The cursor is hidden during play. Hold Alt when you need the mouse for the interface, and in a browser, click the game window once to lock the cursor.
