Falling Blocks Puzzle Guide

Falling Blocks Puzzle recreates the endless appeal of the legendary puzzle game, a phenomenon that once took the world by storm. With simple but challenging gameplay, this game promises to bring both a relaxing experience and train the player's thinking ability.

Basic Mechanics

The game operates on a square grid, measuring 10x20. From the top of the screen, randomly arranged blocks will fall in turns. Each block will have a different shape, and you have to find a way to arrange them to fill a horizontal row.

When you fill a horizontal row, that row will automatically disappear, and you will receive bonus points. The more rows you arrange and destroy in a row, the higher your score. However, if the blocks are stacked to the top and there is no more room for new blocks to appear, the game will end. You can also experience basic mechanics in Slope.

Controls

You mainly use the arrow keys on your keyboard to play:

  • Left arrow: Move the block to the left.
  • Right arrow: Move to the right.
  • Up arrow key: Rotate the block 90 degrees clockwise.
  • Down arrow key: Make the block fall faster.
  • Spacebar: Perform a 'hard drop' - drop the block immediately to the lowest possible position.

With this control, you will easily align, rotate, and place the block as you like, especially when the game speed is getting faster.

Effective playing tips

Focus on the gaps

One of the most important skills when playing Falling Blocks Puzzle is not to leave gaps between rows. These gaps make it difficult for you to find a way to fill them, leading to increasingly higher stacks. Therefore, you need to focus on arranging and utilizing different block shapes to fill the positions.

Use smart block holders

Many versions of the game allow you to keep a block for final use. At this time, you should prioritize keeping the I block (long bar). When you have accumulated a 4-cell vertical gap, use this block to clear four rows at the same time to score maximum points and create a safe space.

Control the speed appropriately

At the early stages of the game, you have more time to observe and arrange accurately. As you go further, the falling speed will increase, the stack is high, and you need to master the acceleration operation to clear quickly, avoiding running out of space.
