One of the core features of Dude Thief Auto is complete freedom of movement. There are no strict objectives, no quest markers, and no mandatory checkpoints. You can explore the city however you like - run across roads, wander through alleys, or ride around on a stolen bike.
Since you're playing as a thief, your main way to earn cash is by attacking people on the street. When you hit a pedestrian, they'll immediately start running away, but they drop money when defeated. That means you'll need to chase them down and keep hitting until they drop their cash. The more people you rob, the more money you'll earn, allowing you to switch weapons, move faster, and create more chaos.
